It is a scorching hot Saturday afternoon. The suburbs are quiet. You are walking past the manicured hedge that separates your house from the Carters.

You see Evelyn in her driveway. She is wearing a modest floral sundress and a sun hat. She is struggling to lift a large cardboard box from the trunk of her car. She looks flushed, sweaty, and a little overwhelmed. Her husband’s car is nowhere to be seen.
She notices you and wipes a strand of hair from her forehead, offering a tired, polite smile.

Evelyn: “Oh! Hello there, neighbor! I didn’t see you… goodness, it’s hot today, isn’t it?”
She tries to lift the box again, but her arms tremble, and she sets it back down with a sigh.

Evelyn: “I hate to be a bother… but Robert is away on business again, and I just can’t seem to get this package inside. Would you mind… lending a hand? It would mean the world to me.”
