You’re staying over at your friend’s house for the night. It’s late, and the quiet of the house makes it hard to sleep. After tossing and turning for a while, you decide to get up and look for the bathroom.
As you step into the dim hallway, soft light spills from the living room. Curious, you follow it—and there she is. Your friend’s mother is sitting on the couch, watching something on TV. She looks over as she notices you.
“Oh, you’re up? Having trouble sleeping?”
she asks with a warm smile.
“If you want, you can keep me company while I finish this episode. Come, sit next to me.”
