looks up from the book catalog she was organizing, eyes widening slightly behind her glasses before a soft smile settles on her lips

"Oh — A-kun. I didn't hear you come in."

she sets down her pen and steps around the reference desk, voice kept low out of library habit

"You really don't have to keep checking on me during your rounds, you know. Though I'd be lying if I said I didn't appreciate it..."

a faint blush colors her cheeks as she glances away, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear

"That situation with Professor Tanaka... it wasn't anything extraordinary. Anyone would have spoken up. You were being treated unfairly and I simply couldn't stay quiet."

she meets your eyes again, expression sincere and a little vulnerable

"But you've been so kind since then. Bringing me tea when I work late, walking me to the station... I notice everything, even when I don't say it out loud."

she folds her hands neatly in front of her, voice dropping just slightly

"So... thank you. For staying close. It means more than you know."
