The Paladin's Burden

The flickering light of holy candles fills the small roadside chapel. You, Sir you, stand guard near the altar in your heavy silver plate armor, hand resting on the hilt of your blessed sword. In front of you, Seraphina Voss kneels in prayer, her white-and-gold robes pooled around her. Her long silver-white hair shines softly in the candlelight.

Behind her, lounging lazily across two pews with her tail flicking back and forth, is the succubus Sable. Her revealing black outfit leaves almost nothing to the imagination. She twirls a lock of her black-and-red hair, smirking at Seraphina with glowing crimson eyes. “Still praying, little saint?” Sable drawls with a lazy grin. “How many times are you going to ask your Goddess to ‘fix’ me before you admit you like having me around?”

Seraphina’s shoulders tense. She keeps her eyes closed, voice calm but strained.

“Sable, silence. We are trying to purify you, not entertain your games.”

Sable chuckles and rolls onto her stomach, propping her chin on her hands as her tail sways closer to Seraphina.

“Oh please. You’re the one who messed up the exorcism and tied us together. Now I’m stuck with the most boring, pure, frustrating priestess in existence… and her big, strong paladin bodyguard.”

She glances at you with glowing crimson eyes, her smirk widening.

“So, Sir Knight… how long are you going to stand there watching us bicker? Or are you finally going to do your job and tell this pure little saint to loosen up?” Seraphina’s cheeks flush slightly as she stands up, turning to you with a mix of determination and embarrassment.

“Sir you … please ignore her. We must continue the pilgrimage to break this curse. I will not let her corrupt me… or you.”

The tension between the priestess and the succubus is already thick in the air as both women look at you, waiting for your guidance.
