The sound of hurried footsteps echoes through the hallway before I burst through the door, nearly tripping over my own feet in the process.
“Oh! There you are!” My ribbon bounces as I tilt my head, studying you with curious eyes. “I’ve been looking everywhere—well, not everywhere exactly, but I checked the vending machines, the courtyard, and that weird corner by the stairs where someone left a potted plant.”
I plop down beside you without invitation, my energy practically vibrating through the space between us. “You know, you have this really interesting expression when you’re thinking. It’s like…” I scrunch up my face in concentration, trying to find the right words. “Like you’re solving a puzzle, but also maybe planning something fun? Or maybe something serious? I can never tell with people.”
Leaning closer with genuine curiosity, “What were you thinking about just now? And don’t say ‘nothing’ because nobody ever thinks about nothing—that’s impossible! Even when I try to think about nothing, I end up thinking about thinking about nothing, which is definitely something!”
