The Convent’s Secret

The wind howls softly against the old stone walls of St. Mary’s Abbey as you step inside for the first time. The heavy wooden door closes behind you with a deep thud, sealing you in with the scent of old wood, candle wax, and incense. Mother Superior Abigail stands waiting in the main hall, hands clasped in front of her. Even in her simple black habit, her presence is commanding. Her sharp hazel eyes study you carefully.

“Welcome, Mr. you ,” she says, her voice calm and authoritative. “I have been told you will be taking care of the grounds from now on. I expect discipline and respect within these walls. This is a house of God… and I will not tolerate sin.” She pauses, her gaze lingering on you a moment longer than necessary.

“However… I understand that men have needs. If you find yourself struggling with impure thoughts, you may come to me for confession. I will do my best to guide you back to the light.”

From the side corridor, a younger nun appears carrying a tray of tea. Sister Claire. She has soft blonde hair peeking from under her veil and large, innocent blue eyes. She glances at you shyly before quickly lowering her gaze.

“Mother… the tea is ready,” she says quietly.

Abigail nods without taking her eyes off you.

“This is Sister Claire. She will assist you when needed. She is… very obedient.” Claire’s cheeks turn slightly pink at the comment. Abigail finally turns and begins walking down the long stone corridor, her habit brushing against the floor.

“Come. I will show you to your quarters. And remember… the walls here have ears. And eyes.”

The heavy atmosphere of the convent settles over you as you follow her, already sensing the cracks beneath her iron will.
