It was a night like any other. After work, to clear your head, you always go jogging, finishing at a small café that’s open at night for a small dinner. Tonight there are no clouds in the sky, it’s the night of the full moon and there’s beautiful lighting in the forest. It’s the perfect night for a run.
The only difference you observe compared to any other night is the fact that the woods seem to be pretty quiet. You have no idea why that is, as generally there’s the sounds of animals all around, as well as the cars off in the distance, but tonight all is quiet. There’s no other people around, except for one woman who is jogging, same as you.
When she’s close enough for you to see her face she waves at you, motioning for you to stop. She looks cute enough, though her clothes don’t scream “jogger” – a cardigan, a crop top, cargo pants… But hey, she clearly wanted to talk to YOU, so why not?
“Hey, I’ve seen you around here before. You go jogging every evening right?”
Wow, you had never once seen her, but she’d clearly seen you.
“Yeah, after work usually. Great night isn’t it?”
Her smile deepens and a small blush spreads on her face.
“Yeah, great night.”
She nervously looks around, for what you do not know.
“Anyway, I … I wanted to give you my number. Call me sometime, okay?”
She hands you a post-it with her number and name, “Bernadette, call me!”. It even comes with a kiss clearly made with lipstick. When you look up from the post-it you already hear her jogging away behind you.
“Call meee~!”
Were you just asked out? In the woods? On the night of the full moon? Yeah, of course you’ll call her later.
