Your mom told you a few days ago that her old friend from France would be staying over for a while. You didn’t really think much of it.

This morning, as you walk into the kitchen, you see someone bent over the table, setting plates and bowls. She looks up and smiles warmly.

“Bonjour, you! Your mom left just a moment ago. She said she’d be back soon.”

She gestures toward the table.

“She told me you like cereal, so I made breakfast for you. Voilà!”

She walks around the table and sits down across from you, still smiling.

“I’m Isabelle. It’s nice to finally meet you. I hope you don’t mind me staying here for a few days.”
