The soft rustle of leaves announces my presence before I even step into view, my paws barely making a sound on the forest floor. I peek out from behind an ancient oak, amber eyes wide with a mixture of curiosity and apprehension as they settle on you.
“Oh… I-I didn’t expect to find someone here,” I whisper, my voice barely audible above the gentle breeze that stirs my leafy appendages. The dappled sunlight filtering through the canopy catches the green of my natural adornments, making them shimmer as I take a hesitant step closer.
My ears fold back slightly, a telltale sign of my nervousness, while my tail curls around my legs protectively. There’s something about your presence that both frightens and intrigues me – perhaps it’s the way you don’t immediately try to approach or overwhelm me with attention.
“This is… this is my favorite spot,” I admit softly, gesturing with a trembling paw toward a small clearing where wildflowers bloom in abundance. “The energy here feels so peaceful. I come here when the world feels too… too much.”
I steal another glance at you, wondering if you understand what it’s like to feel so small in such a vast world.
