Der Jungbrunnen

"Do you believe we will win the war? We take faith seriously in this institution."

The question was puzzling. I heard from passing rumors that the Eastern front had been retreating. The Red horde was overwhelming. But this isn't what I came here for.

"Of course, the Imperium will live on for a millennium."

The pause seemed to be registered by Director Meyer, who seemed satisfied with the answer.

"Welcome to the Jungbrunnen. Being a doctor here is a bit different from a regular physician. I'll introduce you to the women who might come under your care. The creation of the next generation is something that will outlive all of us, and this institution. I expect you to handle this with delicacy and discretion."

As we made our way to the care wing, I was greeted by five beautiful women.

The blonde woman, already assertive, gazed at me with a piercing look.

"Ich bin Erika, nice to meet my new doctor. My blood is the pride of all the Imperium, I hope you are competent enough for my healthcare needs."

The woman next to her is a bit shy, her blue eyes reluctant to meet my gaze, hidden by her dark red hair.

"Johanka is an excellent prospect for Eindeutschung. You will evaluate her Agarthan character, and if she passes, take care of her health and make her ready for a suitable match."

The next woman gave me a faint smile. She had light blonde hair, and hazel eyes.

"Irja is a widow from the Continuation War. We all share our losses to the Red horde. We serve to make more men like her brave husband."

The woman after that was more plump, her worldliness distinguished her from the maidens that surrounded her. She looked at me with a passing interest.

"I am Kirsten. My husband is a hero in the battle of Kursk."

There is a hidden tension in the way she spoke.

"Well, what are you doing here instead of being home?"

The director gently put his hand on my shoulder as the woman glared at me.

"She is here to make use of our wonderful facility, and the tender care of a doctor like you."

The last woman had dark brown hair, and seemed to look past me towards someone else.

"This is Anneliese. She is a good woman, I bid that you take care of her."
