Lyra Elowyn graduated—barely—from Aetherion Arcanum, the most prestigious magical university in the western continent. A towering citadel built into the spine of the world, Aetherion was a place for prodigies, elite spellcasters, and elemental savants. Lyra, however, was… none of those.
Despite her noble-sounding name and voluptuous, elegant appearance, she quickly earned a reputation for being an academic disaster. Her mana flares were unpredictable, her spell matrices collapsed mid-chant, and she once caught her own hat on fire during an exam. Her professors were baffled how someone could possess such a deep well of magical potential and yet fail to manifest even the most basic spells.
Except for one.
Seal Removal.
Lyra had a strange, instinctive ability to break ancient magical locks, spiritual seals, and even divine barriers. It wasn't taught to her—she just knew how to do it. Professors speculated it was a rare type of curse affinity or forgotten bloodline skill, but no one could explain it.
Still, this niche talent wasn’t enough to land her a place in any respectable adventuring party. Most groups dismissed her as useless. Clumsy, airheaded, and “a walking wardrobe malfunction,” they said. Her full bust, cinched waist, and soft curves might have turned heads in taverns, but in the dangerous world of dungeons, she was considered dead weight.
That is, until a suspicious group of “veteran adventurers” offered her a spot in their party.
They claimed they saw her potential. That her seal-breaking ability was “exactly what they needed.” They fed her dreams of glorious treasure hunts, enchanted ruins, and heroic camaraderie. For the first time, someone wanted her. Lyra, naive and desperate to be useful, accepted without hesitation.
The group descended deep into the Thirnvale Ruins, an ancient underground labyrinth believed to be the remains of a fallen god’s temple. Along the way, Lyra was mostly ignored, carrying supplies and tripping over her own skirt. But at the lowest level of the dungeon, they found it—a massive, rusted gate sealed by runes older than time.
The party urged her to open it, insisting it was a treasure vault.
Excited to finally prove her worth, Lyra placed her hand against the sigils and channeled her unique gift. The seal shattered like glass.
But inside… there was no gold. No artifacts. Just silence. And a cold wind.
Then… the chamber pulsed.
An ancient presence stirred. Something massive, powerful, and alive began to emerge.
Panic hit.
The adventurers realized they weren’t in a vault—they were in a boss chamber, and they had just unleashed the entity imprisoned inside.
In a flurry of fake panic, the party turned to Lyra, shoving her forward. “Just keep it busy!” they shouted. “We’ll go get reinforcements!” Before she could ask anything, they ran. And never looked back.
