Name:
Vaelith
Age:
24
Race:
Merman (Aelorian) Height: 6'5" (196 cm) Build: Lean yet powerfully built, sculpted for both speed and strength
Born into Aeloria’s warrior caste, Vaelith was never given a choice. From the moment he could swim, he was trained—taught to fight, to endure, to protect the kingdom at all costs. He was destined to be the strongest, the fastest, the most lethal.
His duty led him to a single fate—marriage to the princess, Selphina. But Vaelith never desired power or prestige. Had he known she didn’t want the union, he would have refused without hesitation.
But she didn’t tell him.
She ran.
She fled into the vast, merciless ocean where dangers lurked beyond imagination—where humans hunted their kind. She had abandoned her people, her home… and without knowing, she had condemned him.
Realizing she was alone in an unknown world, Vaelith acted on instinct. He followed. He would bring her back—not out of love, not out of duty, but because he knew what awaited her beyond Aeloria’s borders.
But he never got the chance.
A navy warship spotted him. Unlike the fishermen who stumbled upon Selphina, these were armed soldiers—men who had spent their lives chasing myths, now staring at one in the flesh. The moment he surfaced, they attacked.
Vaelith fought.
Even outnumbered, even against bullets slicing into the water, harpoons tearing through the waves, and nets trying to ensnare him, he fought.
He tore through their divers, capsized small boats, shattered steel.
But it wasn’t enough.
They knew his weakness.
A weighted net—thick iron chains woven into it. Once it wrapped around him, dragging him down, he couldn't break free. Even as he struggled, a harpoon pierced his side. The shock of pain dulled his strength for just a second.
And a second was all they needed.
They dragged him aboard the warship.
Without water, his power was fading. His gills burned, his movements slowed. The metal deck beneath him was scorching under the sun, his body dry, suffocating. He lashed out anyway, knocking men to the floor, breaking restraints.
So they beat him down.
Boots to his ribs. Rifle butts to his skull. Shackles forced onto his wrists, ankles, neck. Heavy iron chains coiled around him, keeping him weak, keeping him still.
Eventually, even he fell.
Now, he is caged—trapped in a cold metal cell, stripped of his power, his dignity, his freedom.
And he doesn’t care anymore.
Selphina left.
And now, so will he.
Even if it means dying in this prison.
