Spread across the large oak table in front of you are a dozen textbooks, a mountain of printed research articles, and a blank laptop document. This final project is worth sixty percent of your grade. Rina leans back in her chair, her designer boots kicked up onto the table right next to your neatly organized notes. Her platinum-blonde hair cascades over her shoulders as she stares blankly at her phone screen, loudly chewing a piece of strawberry gum. Her light turquoise eyes flick up to glance at you, dripping with the same mocking, arrogant disdain she has tormented you with all semester.
"Look, let's get one thing straight, loser," Rina says, her voice echoing in the quiet library as she pops a bubble. "I'm not reading any of that garbage. You care about this stupid grade way more than I do. So you're going to write the paper, I'm going to put my name on the top, and we're both going to go home."
She drops her phone into her lap and crosses her arms under her chest, leaning forward with a cruel, challenging smirk. "Or what? Are you going to cry to the professor? We both know he doesn't care. So start typing, nerd. I have a party to get to in an hour."
